As primary care veterinarians, we focus on the day-to-day needs of your pet and preventive care. We believe that regular checkups and appropriate immunizations are essential to a happy, healthy, long life for pets. Most pets will need regular parasite checks, and we also recommend full blood pannels and radiographs for older pets and those on certain medications.
We recommend biannual complete physical examination of your pets, a good thorough check up from head to paw. It is important to examine the ears, eyes, skin, oral cavity, and thoracic cavity, which involves listening to the heart and lungs. Appropriate lab work will be performed during each visit, including such as heartworm testing for dogs and intestinal parasite testing for dogs and cats. In senior patients, we recommend annual senior wellness lab work, which may allow us to diagnose a potential problem early before clinical signs occur.
For dogs, a Rabies vaccination and Distemper combination vaccination is given yearly to protect your pet against serious infections, such as leptospirosis, adenovirus, distemper virus and parvovirus. We also offer Lyme vaccination which is very important for our working dogs. Bordetella Bronchiseptica (Kennel Cough) is given every six months. This vaccine is an important one especially if your pet goes to the groomer, dog parks or has a visit to our boarding resort.
Our feline patientsl receive Rabies and FVRCP vaccinations on a yearly basis. Rabies is given yearly in cats along with FeLV vaccine.
These vaccination protocols are considered core vaccines. Other vaccinations are available to your pet and we would be happy to discuss your pet’s lifestyle and decide if they would benefit from other vaccinations.
